Unscrupulous employers are damaging children’s education by the use of Fire and Rehire (Dismissal and Re-Engagement) to force through changes in teachers’ terms and conditions of service.

Fire and Rehire allows employers to threaten teachers and other staff with dismissal if they refuse to accept changes to their contracts of employment which would mean worse pay, pensions and rights at work.

During the pandemic, teachers stepped up to support children and young people. They deserve to be treated fairly and with dignity and respect at work.

It’s time for the Government to step up and STOP the practice of Fire and Rehire for good.
